C3680297 The Late Pre-Raphaelites Continued

The late Pre-Raphaelites provided late Victorian society with the means to explore, imaginatively, the relationship between the sexes in a way that liberated them from the constraints of their time.
This course will continue to study the following themes -
William Morris and Burne-Jones' 'Dream of an Earthly Paradise'
Female Pre-Raphaelite painters
Ladies of Shallot
La Belle Dames Sans Merci
Themes such as 'The Knight and the Lady'.
Later Pre-Raphaelitism's engagement with contemporary concerns functioned largely by projecting the protagonists depicted into a romanticised world; by this means later Victorian preoccupations could be outplayed imaginatively.
It is not necessary to have attended the previous course and beginners are welcome.
